FBI-UAP-D009 FD-302-67 Northeastern Orb Sighting 2026

FBI

An FBI FD-302 records a February 2026 interview with a U.S. person describing red and white orbs over a northeastern U.S. backyard.

Disclosure Rating — 5/10

FBI-UAP-D009 is an FBI FD-302 interview record released as part of PURSUE Release 03 on June 12, 2026, by the Department of War. Designated FD-302-67, the document preserves a February 2026 witness account describing multiple sightings of anomalous orbs in the northeastern United States. The record was produced by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and released by the Department of War through the PURSUE disclosure program.12

  Document Form and Provenance

FD-302 is the standardized FBI form used to memorialize investigative interviews. Each FD-302 captures the content of a witness or subject interview as recorded by the attending agent or agents. The form itself does not contain conclusions, recommendations, or analytical assessments by the Bureau; its sole function is to preserve a verbatim or near-verbatim record of what was communicated during the interview session. This particular form is numbered FD-302-67, placing it within a sequence of numbered interview records within the FBI's UAP documentation series.

The interview was conducted via Microsoft Teams videoconference on a date in February 2026. Remote interviews of this kind became standard Bureau practice during and after the COVID-19 period, and their use here reflects operational continuity rather than any deviation from standard evidentiary practice. The attending agents identified themselves to the subject and stated the nature of the interview before the account was recorded, following the Bureau's standard advisory procedure. The resulting document was subsequently released by the Department of War as part of PURSUE Release 03 on June 12, 2026.3

The release documentation cross-references FBI-UAP-D009 with a companion document, FBI-UAP-D010, and with video footage designated FBI-UAP-PR004. The official blurb states that "the subject matter described in files FBI-UAP-D009 and FBI-UAP-D010 and depicted in the video footage FBI-UAP-PR004 corresponds to reports originating from the same general area in the northeastern United States." This cross-referencing indicates that the Bureau documented more than a single witness or event in this area, and that video material associated with the same or related sightings has also been retained and released.12

The Primary Sighting: Red Orbs with Plasma Centers

The central account documented in FBI-UAP-D009 concerns an evening sighting in the northeastern United States. The witness, a U.S. person, returned home at approximately 9:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and, while pulling into a downhill driveway approaching the residence, noticed an intense bright light hovering below the tree line in the backyard. The witness paused, retrieved a phone to record the phenomenon, and was joined by a spouse who had been inside the house at the time.

What the two witnesses described seeing was a red sphere approximately one meter in diameter. The witnesses characterized the color as extraordinary and unlike anything they had previously encountered. The witness stated they had "never seen anything that color of red before," a description that the FD-302 records verbatim. The sphere was not uniformly colored: at the center of the red orb, the witnesses perceived what they described as a "white plasma sun" approximately the size of a basketball. The interior feature appeared to contrast distinctly with the outer red coloration, giving the object a layered or nested visual appearance.

The object then moved toward the upper left from the witnesses' vantage point. Shortly thereafter, a second orb, described as identical to the first in appearance, appeared hovering above the original. The two red orbs then moved in tandem toward the west, rising above the tree line. The witnesses described the motion as smooth and silent, with the two objects traveling together in a manner they compared to flying in formation or being tethered to one another. No sound was associated with the objects' movement at any point.

As the orbs moved out of sight to the west, the witnesses observed them either merge into a single orb or draw so close together that only one remained visible. It is not possible from the written account alone to determine whether this represented a physical merger, a perspective effect, or some other phenomenon. The witnesses began recording video at the point when the orbs had risen above the tree line and were moving away from the backyard. The video is noted as an attachment to the FD-302, and is designated FBI-UAP-PR004 within the PURSUE release series.3

The Secondary Sighting: White Spheres at Altitude

Several weeks after the primary red orb sighting, the same witness reported observing a secondary and distinct phenomenon. Multiple white orbs traveled over the residence from west to east at a significantly higher altitude than the earlier red objects. The white spheres appeared approximately the size of a dime held at arm's length, indicating a substantially smaller apparent angular size than the red orbs observed in the backyard, though the actual size is indeterminate without knowing the altitude.

The secondary sighting is recorded in the same FD-302 form as an addendum or continuation of the witness account, suggesting the Bureau treated both sightings as potentially related or at minimum as warranting documentation within the same interview record. No video of the secondary white sphere sighting is mentioned in the available documentation.3

Chain of Custody and Disclosure Context

The record was released through the Department of War PURSUE program, a structured disclosure initiative that has released multiple tranches of government UAP documentation. PURSUE Release 03 was published on June 12, 2026. FBI-UAP-D009 sits within a cluster of FBI-generated UAP records in that release, cross-referenced with FBI-UAP-D010 and the associated video footage FBI-UAP-PR004. The cross-referencing within the official release documentation establishes that these records were grouped by the releasing agency as related items originating from the same general geographic area in the northeastern United States.

The fact that the FBI conducted and memorialized this interview using the standard FD-302 form indicates that the Bureau treated the report as warranting formal documentation within its investigative framework, regardless of any conclusions about the nature of the reported phenomena. The FD-302 format provides a higher degree of evidentiary formality than, for example, a voluntary civilian UFO report filed with a non-governmental organization.

  What The Record Supports

FBI-UAP-D009 establishes that the FBI interviewed at least one U.S. witness in February 2026 regarding sightings of anomalous aerial phenomena in the northeastern United States, and that the Bureau recorded the account using its standard investigative interview form. The document links the account to companion records (FBI-UAP-D010) and to associated video footage (FBI-UAP-PR004) within the same release.

The record does not establish the nature or origin of the observed phenomena. The FD-302 form explicitly contains neither recommendations nor conclusions of the FBI concerning what the witnesses saw. The red spheres with apparent plasma-like centers, the silent tandem movement, and the subsequent white orb sighting all remain unresolved. The phenomena described are unidentified.

The video referenced as an attachment and released as FBI-UAP-PR004 may provide additional observational data, but analysis of that footage falls outside the scope of this document. No sensor data, radar tracks, or corroborating technical evidence are referenced within FBI-UAP-D009 itself.
