FBI Still Image Release
FBI Photo A8 is a still-image record released in Department of War PURSUE Release 01, cleared for release on May 8, 2026.1 The release metadata identifies the source agency as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, gives the incident date only as late 2025, and does not provide an incident location. It also states that the image came from a U.S. government system, was altered with redactions before submission to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, and was not accompanied by a mission report.1
Reticle View and Redactions
The released image is monochrome and shows a central reticle over a faintly patterned background. Several black redaction bars cover portions of the frame, while a small, dark, irregular object appears just below and to the right of the reticle center.2 The release narrative description presents that visual description as informational, not as an analytical finding about what the object was or whether the event was valid.1
What Photo A8 Cannot Show
The still frame supports only cautious visual observations. It does not establish the object's size, distance, speed, altitude, material, sensor platform, or flight behavior. The absence of a mission report also means the image cannot be checked against a fuller operational timeline, witness statement, sensor log, or chain of custody from the public release materials alone.1 The operator was unable to positively identify the reported UAP, which leaves the image as an unresolved observation rather than a determination of anomalous performance or origin.1
Public Evidence With Thin Context
This record matters because it shows both the value and the weakness of a public still-image release. The frame preserves a released visual trace of an unresolved FBI-submitted UAP report, but the redactions and missing contextual record sharply limit independent interpretation. It is therefore most useful as evidence of what the release includes, how it describes the uncertainty around the image, and where further corroborating records would be needed before stronger claims could be made.
