This PURSUE Release 01 record points to a declassified Air Force intelligence packet about unidentified flying objects and flying saucers. The release metadata identifies the record as Department of War material, gives an incident date of November 8, 1948, and places the entry in the Netherlands.12
The scanned packet is useful because it keeps the report inside its original intelligence context: Headquarters U.S. Air Force filing and routing material, not a later retelling. A contemporary transcript of USAFE Item 14 describes recurring European flying-saucer reports, including a Neubiberg Air Base sighting and Swedish Air Intelligence views that some reports appeared to involve technology not then identified.23
Read carefully, the document does not prove the origin of any object. Its value is that it shows late-1948 Air Force intelligence channels collecting, forwarding, and debating reports that mixed operational sightings, allied assessments, and speculative explanations before later public UFO programs settled into more cautious official language.23
