Between 1977 and 1978 the Brazilian Air Force conducted a classified operation, known as Operação Prato, to study repeated UFO sightings in the Amazon region.1 Hundreds of pages of reports and photographs were later declassified, describing unusual aerial lights and alleged injuries to witnesses.23 These files remain a significant case study for South American ufology.45
