Ruppelt](/people/edward-j-ruppelt)'s account of Air Force UFO investigation pushed him toward his own research.[^1] Good's site says that research eventually included several thousand declassified intelligence documents, placing his method in the post-[Project Blue Book](/programs/project-blue-book) document culture rather than only in contactee storytelling.[^1][^7]\n\nHis first identified book project also shows the other lane of his work: the Open British National Bibliography lists Lou Zinsstag as author and Good as contributor to the 1983 [George Adamski](/people/george-adamski) volume *George Adamski: The Untold Story*.[^8] Agency, British bibliography, and WorldCat records then place the larger sequence as *Above Top Secret* in 1987, *Alien Liaison* originally published by Century in 1991, *Beyond Top Secret* in 1996, *Alien Base* in 1998, *Unearthly Disclosure* in 2000, *Need to Know* in 2006, and *Earth: An Alien Enterprise* in 2013.[^9][^17][^18]\n\n## Above Top Secret and MJ-12\n\n*Above Top Secret* gave Good his broad public breakthrough. Good's own site calls it his first book and an instant bestseller, and the Internet Archive record for the scanned book identifies the title as *Above Top Secret: the Worldwide UFO Cover-Up* by Timothy Good, with a 1988 publication date for that edition.[^1][^10] The book brought Good's document-heavy style to a broad audience and tied official UFO secrecy, [Roswell](/events/the-roswell-incident), and the alleged [Majestic 12 documents](/documents/1987-majestic-12-documents) into one public cover-up narrative.[^10][^11]\n\nThe National Archives says searches for MJ-12-related documentation in Air Force, Joint Chiefs, Truman Library, Eisenhower Library, and National Security Council holdings were negative except for the disputed Cutler-Twining memorandum, which NARA lists with multiple provenance and formatting problems.[^12] Gerald K. Haines's CIA history cites Good's *Above Top Secret* in the MJ-12 literature trail but says no original MJ-12 documents had surfaced and that one alleged Majestic-12 document was found to be a complete fraud.[^11]\n\n## Claims After the Cover-Up Thesis\n\nGood's later books expanded from global official-secrecy compilation into claims about liaison programs, alien bases, presidential contact, and continuing hidden interaction. Simon & Schuster's page for *Earth: An Alien Enterprise* describes that book as focused on unpublished or little-known alien contacts, infiltration, and top-secret liaison programs, including claims about Eisenhower, Kennedy, Neil Armstrong, NATO personnel, alien photographs, and injured aliens allegedly cared for by military personnel.[^6] The BBC WM page for Good's 2008 and 2009 interviews likewise attributes to Good claims about extraterrestrial bases, genetic influence on humans, the Nixon-Jackie Gleason body-viewing story, and a long-term alien presence on Earth.[^13]\n\nKirkus treated *Need to Know* as a documentation-heavy work built around testimony, affidavits, photos, drawings, and copied documents, while also signaling that some documentation may look specious to unconvinced readers.[^14] Publishers Weekly described *Need to Know* as a polemical attempt to prove a buried global conspiracy and concluded that Good did not provide incontrovertible proof of UFOs, extraterrestrials, or the secrecy system he alleged.[^15]\n\n## Public Reach and Claimed Institutional Access\n\nGood's agency profile says his contacts included astronauts, military and intelligence chiefs, pilots, and politicians; it also says he lectured at universities and organizations including the Royal Canadian Military Institute and the Royal Geographical Society, and was invited to discuss the subject at [the Pentagon](/locations/the-pentagon) and French Air Force headquarters.[^3] Simon & Schuster's author page gives a more specific version, saying Good lectured at the Royal Canadian Military Institute, Royal Naval Air Station, House of Lords All-Party UFO Study Group, Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Oxford and Cambridge Union societies, visited the Pentagon in May 1998, lectured at French Air Force headquarters in 2002, and acted as consultant for several U.S. Congressional investigations.[^2]\n\nThe lectures, invitations, and media appearances widened the audience for Good's claims but did not independently verify the alien-contact conclusions in the books.[^2][^3][^13]\n\n## Official and Skeptical Counter-Record\n\nThe National Archives' Project Blue Book page says the Air Force received 12,618 sighting reports from 1947 to 1969, left 701 unidentified, and concluded that no investigated UFO indicated a national-security threat, technology beyond modern scientific knowledge, or extraterrestrial vehicles.[^7] The same National Archives page says there are not now, and never have been, extraterrestrial visitors or equipment at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, undercutting a recurring claim family around hidden bodies and recovered craft.[^7]\n\nHaines's CIA history gives a narrower institutional caveat: CIA interest was substantial in the early 1950s, later became limited and peripheral, and its secrecy around the Robertson Panel and related activity helped feed later cover-up charges.[^11] The 2024 [AARO historical report](/documents/2024-aaro-historical-record-report-volume-1) reached the same general evidentiary boundary from a later review, finding no evidence that a U.S. government investigation, academic-sponsored study, or official review had confirmed any UAP sighting as extraterrestrial technology, and no empirical evidence that the U.S. government or private companies had reverse-engineered extraterrestrial technology.[^16]\n\n## Historical Placement\n\nGood carried postwar pilot reports, Keyhoe, Ruppelt, declassified files, and Blue Book criticism into a late-1980s mass-market story centered on MJ-12, Roswell, military secrecy, and alleged elite alien contact.[^1][^7][^9][^10][^11] The public record establishes Good as a prolific London-born author, professional violinist, public lecturer, media guest, and compiler of claims, while official and review sources leave MJ-12, alien liaison programs, underground bases, presidential meetings, and recovered extraterrestrial technology unproven.[^2][^3][^7][^12][^15][^16]\n\n## References\n\n[^1]: [Timothy Good, \"Timothy Good - UFO Authority\" (official website)](http://www.timothygood.co.uk/)\n[^2]: [Simon & Schuster, \"Timothy Good\" author page](https://www.simonandschuster.com/authors/Timothy-Good/172299332)\n[^3]: [Andrew Lownie Literary Agency, \"Timothy Good Biography\"](https://www.andrewlownie.co.uk/authors/timothy-good)\n[^4]: [Penguin Random House, \"Timothy Good\" author page](https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/authors/10483/timothy-good/)\n[^5]: [Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek, \"Timothy Good\" authority record](https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/person/gnd/121519287)\n[^6]: [Simon & Schuster, *Earth: An Alien Enterprise* by Timothy Good](https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Earth/Timothy-Good/9781639360369)\n[^7]: [National Archives, \"Project BLUE BOOK - Unidentified Flying Objects\"](https://www.archives.gov/research/military/air-force/ufos)\n[^8]: [Open British National Bibliography, *George Adamski: The Untold Story*](https://obnb.uk/p8817423-george-adamski-the-untold-story-the-latest-and-most-complete-evidence-on-the-first-man-to-claim-that-extraterrestrials-live-among-us)\n[^9]: Andrew Lownie Literary Agency book pages: [*Above Top Secret*](https://www.andrewlownie.co.uk/authors/timothy-good/books/above-top-secret), [*Beyond Top Secret*](https://www.andrewlownie.co.uk/authors/timothy-good/books/beyond-top-secret), [*Alien Base*](https://www.andrewlownie.co.uk/authors/timothy-good/books/alien-base), [*Unearthly Disclosure*](https://www.andrewlownie.co.uk/authors/timothy-good/books/unearthly-disclosure), and [*Need to Know*](https://www.andrewlownie.co.uk/authors/timothy-good/books/need-to-know)\n[^10]: [Internet Archive, *Above Top Secret: the Worldwide UFO Cover-Up* by Timothy Good](https://archive.org/details/B-001-014-055)\n[^11]: [Gerald K.
