Trump's February 19, 2026 directive calling for federal agencies to identify and release government files related to UAP, UFOs, and extraterrestrial life. As with the first tranche, the Department of War ran the release with support from agency partners across the federal government.[^1][^2]\n\n## Release 02\n\nThe second tranche was cleared for release on May 22, 2026. PURSUE Release 02 comprises 64 records: 51 videos, 7 audio files, and 6 PDFs. The named agencies are the Central Intelligence Agency, the Department of Energy, the Department of War, NASA, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.[^1]\n\nIn a statement attributed to Assistant to the Secretary of War for Public Affairs and Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell, the Department framed the publication as a continuation of the rolling release, noted that WAR.GOV/UFO had received over one billion hits worldwide since its May 8, 2026 launch, and said the Department and its partners were already working on a third release.[^2]\n\n## House Request Provenance\n\nMost of the Release 02 video records carry a shared provenance note tying them to a congressional request. According to the PURSUE release, on March 6, 2026, eight members of the U.S. House of Representatives requested access to 51 potentially UAP-related records allegedly held by the Department of War and the Intelligence Community, and the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) identified a collection of responsive materials held on a classified network. The same note repeatedly cautions that many of these materials lack a substantiated chain-of-custody.[^1]\n\n## Source Corpus\n\nThe tranche combines newer military sensor video with older historical holdings. The Department of War video records (PR050 through PR099) are short DVIDS-hosted clips from CENTCOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, INDOPACOM, and NORTHCOM, including the F-16C engagement over Lake Huron on February 12, 2023, two U.S. Coast Guard C-144 \"Tic Tac\" infrared clips near Tyndall from April 2024, and a multiple-sphere unidentified submerged object sequence near a submarine. NASA contributed seven Mercury and Apollo audio excerpts spanning 1961 to 1972. The PDF records include a CIA intelligence information report describing a 1973 luminous green object in the USSR, three Department of Energy and Los Alamos documents, a 116-page Armed Forces Special Weapons Program file on 1948–1950 sightings at Sandia Base, and a first-hand narrative by a currently serving senior U.S. intelligence official describing close orb encounters near a test range in late 2025.[^1]\n\n## Publication Structure\n\nThe release is hosted on WAR.GOV/UFO and links directly to source PDFs, DVIDS-hosted videos, and audio files held at their original locations. Several video records are deliberately paired into multi-part sequences — for example PR057a and PR057b — and the two Tyndall clips are grouped as companion observations of the same phenomenon. Audio and document records carry official agency descriptions of the underlying material.[^1]\n\n## References\n\n[^1]: [Department of War PURSUE page](https://www.war.gov/UFO/#release)\n\n[^2]: [Department of War publishes second release of UAP files](https://www.war.gov/News/Releases/Release/Article/4499305/department-of-war-publishes-second-release-of-unidentified-anomalous-phenomena/)","readingTime":"3 min read"},"relatedRecords":[{"ref":{"type":"events","slug":"2026-06-09-grusch-capitol-uap-disclosure-press-conference","title":"Grusch and Lawmakers Capitol UAP Disclosure Press Conference","url":"https://disclosdex.com/events/2026-06-09-grusch-capitol-uap-disclosure-press-conference"},"direction":"inbound","weight":1},{"ref":{"type":"people","slug":"jon-kosloski","title":"Jon Kosloski","url":"https://disclosdex.com/people/jon-kosloski"},"direction":"inbound","weight":1},{"ref":{"type":"locations","slug":"lake-huron","title":"Lake Huron","url":"https://disclosdex.com/locations/lake-huron"},"direction":"inbound","weight":1}],"citation":{"canonicalUrl":"https://disclosdex.com/events/2026-05-22-department-of-war-pursue-release-02","title":"Department of War PURSUE Release 02","publisher":"Disclosdex","retrievedFrom":"https://disclosdex.com/api/v1/events/2026-05-22-department-of-war-pursue-release-02","license":"CC-BY-4.0"},"evidence":["Government records","Videos","Audio"]}
