The debriefing continues in the next file, NASA-UAP-D029.[^3][^4]\n\n## Record Content and Analysis\n\nIn the recording, crew members discuss the light flash phenomena with debriefers. Two of the three crew members reported seeing the flashes at various points during the mission, including in lunar orbit and on the lunar surface. The phenomenon was a novel effect at the time of the mission and is now understood as high-energy cosmic rays passing through the eye and striking the retina, producing the perception of light streaks.[^3][^4]\n\n## References\n\n[^1]: [Department of War PURSUE page](https://www.war.gov/UFO/#release)\n[^2]: [Department of War PURSUE data file (uap-data.csv)](https://www.war.gov/Portals/1/Interactive/2026/UFO/uap-data.csv)\n[^3]: [NASA-UAP-D028, Apollo 17 Crew Medical Debriefing, 1972 DVIDS page](https://www.dvidshub.net/video/1014116)\n[^4]: [NASA-UAP-D028, Apollo 17 Crew Medical Debriefing, 1972 MP4](https://d34w7g4gy10iej.cloudfront.net/video/2607/DOD_111830085/DOD_111830085-1920x1080-9000k.mp4)","readingTime":"1 min read"},"relatedRecords":[],"citation":{"canonicalUrl":"https://disclosdex.com/documents/2026-pursue-release-04-039-nasa-uap-d028-apollo-17-crew-medical-debriefing-1972","title":"NASA-UAP-D028, Apollo 17 Crew Medical Debriefing, 1972","publisher":"Disclosdex","retrievedFrom":"https://disclosdex.com/api/v1/documents/2026-pursue-release-04-039-nasa-uap-d028-apollo-17-crew-medical-debriefing-1972","license":"CC-BY-4.0"}}
