D. Moeller investigated binary plutonium–aluminum alloys to support pit casting and fuel development. The 87-page LA-1000 study charts phase equilibria, heat-treatment response, hardness trends, and casting behavior across compositions from 0.5 to 100 atomic percent aluminum. Moeller noted the delta solid solution stabilised by higher aluminum content could be hot-worked, while alpha plutonium alloys remained brittle at room temperature.\n\n<PDF src=\"https://library.sciencemadness.org/lanl1_a/lib-www/la-pubs/00423795.pdf\" />\n\n[^1]: [SGP FAS PDF](https://sgp.fas.org/othergov/doe/lanl/lib-www/la-pubs/00423795.pdf)\n[^2]: [SGP FAS HTML summary](https://sgp.fas.org/othergov/doe/lanl/lib-www/la-pubs/00423795.html)\n[^3]: [ScienceMadness LANL mirror PDF](https://library.sciencemadness.org/lanl1_a/lib-www/la-pubs/00423795.pdf)\n[^4]: [SGP FAS Los Alamos reports index](https://sgp.fas.org/othergov/doe/lanl/index1.html)\n[^5]: [ScienceMadness LANL technical reports index](https://library.sciencemadness.org/lanl1_a/mainindex.html)","readingTime":"1 min read"},"relatedRecords":[],"citation":{"canonicalUrl":"https://disclosdex.com/documents/1950-alloys-of-plutonium-with-aluminum","title":"Alloys of Plutonium with Aluminum","publisher":"Disclosdex","retrievedFrom":"https://disclosdex.com/api/v1/documents/1950-alloys-of-plutonium-with-aluminum","license":"CC-BY-4.0"}}
